Amara Hartshorn, YTS Belmont
Nominated by Olivia Brown
“Amara is always so positive and flexible. She has traveled between catchment areas to cover students across the state throughout the past months. We appreciate her so much for doing this. Recently, Amara agreed to work with an afternoon student in Manchester who has been having a particularly tough time. On her first day with this student, Amara jumped right in to support him with his schoolwork, which has some challenges in itself. Not only did Amara support him in taking excellent notes, but she ensured he knew the material, which led him to receive an 80% on a quiz – a huge improvement from his most recent quiz grades. Thank you so much, Amara, and keep up the fantastic work.”

Seeking Strategy Ambassadors!
In 2021, Easterseals NH, VT, and Farnum conducted a focused strategic planning process, pairing staff from across the organization in teams with senior and executive leadership and an outside consultant. Over several weeks, these teams met and discussed everything from the size of our potential client pool in 20 years to the technology we’d need to deliver our services as a continuum of care.
These discussions helped create an exciting strategic plan for the agency, titled Seizing the Future with Intent.
We’re now looking for employees to serve as ambassadors, helping staff understand what this plan means and build enthusiasm for the work ahead. You will share details of the plan with your co-workers, answer questions, hear their concerns, and help leadership refine and improve the direction based on employee feedback.
This plan belongs to all staff, so who better to bring it to every corner of Easterseals?
If you’re interested in being part of this team, please register to attend our information session on February 18th from 12:00-12:45 by sending an email to Cathy Kuhn at ckuhn@eastersealsnh.org

There is no doubt that the pandemic has asked a lot of us, especially those in the helping professions. Doing “good work” has created an incredible drain on our energy. And winters, by nature, have a draining quality as well. This lively and engaging workshop will explore how to best manage distress, exhaustion and the struggles that have been amplified in the last two years. What you do for Easterseals is a very important service to children and families. Learn how to create different ways of managing stressors in order to reinvigorate over and over again.
February’s Wellness Session is sponsored by our Vermont Wellness Team. We hope you will join us for an interactive session that is sure to have us all laughing.

What’s Up Wednesday 2/16
Black History: Then and Now February is Black History Month. This month-long observance in the U.S. is a chance to celebrate Black achievement, provide a fresh reminder to take stock of where systemic racism persists, and give visibility to the people and organizations creating change. A continued engagement with history is vital as it helps give context for the present. Join host JerriAnne Boggis, executive director of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire and the founder and director of The Harriet Wilson Project, at 3:30 PM, as we briefly dive into New Hampshire’s Black history and its significance to the work Easterseals aspires to do. Presented by: Pedro Altagracia, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

How to Stay Sure-Footed This Winter
Winter weather brings icy driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots. Employee safety is a top concern. Here's how to avoid a fall:
1. Wear YakTrax if you're out and about in the community (if you need a pair, Easterseals will provide them; ask your supervisor!)
2. Keep a sand bottle from Easterseals ready to use in your vehicle.
Review these tips on how to avoid slips, trips, and falls during the winter season.
