A Parting Note from Elin

To my dear colleagues,

As I near my retirement as CFO for Easterseals this week (yikes, it is hard to believe), my heart is filled with such emotion, both happy and sad. I am reflecting on how grateful I am to have been our CFO for such an amazing organization. It has been my honor to be part of our Easterseals team and family and to have worked with such incredibly wonderful people. You are truly exceptional; the dedication and caring that you show every day is extraordinary, way over and above. This brings me great happiness along with knowing our organization is well-positioned for the future and with a mission that is tops.

Thank you for all you do, and please continue to serve those that need us with great care and compassion.

I am proud to have been part of our many accomplishments over the years and our unwavering commitment to services to our clients. I surely will miss you.

Wishing you all the best.

Your friend forever,

Welcome New Hires!

Caught in the Act

Judy Deangelis, VT
Recognized by Tanya Osadchey

“Judy took the time to meet with a parent and talk her through (prepare her for) a Family Safety Network Meeting that Judy was facilitating. The parent was very nervous about the meeting and said she didn't want to attend. With Judy's willingness to explain the setup and the rationale for the meeting, the mother was able to join. Thank you for making the time to help this mother through this process.”

Glenn Kazan, MVS
Recognized by Stephanie Higgs

“Glenn provided exceptional services to a family who took the time to write an amazing letter about his dedication and impact. Thank you, Glenn, for pouring your heart and soul into your job and making a difference every day!"

Changes to How Overtime is Displayed

In this week’s paycheck, some non-exempt employees will notice a change in the way overtime is reported. In the past, overtime was calculated and reported on your paycheck stub in 2 entries: one at 1.0 and the other at .5. Moving forward, overtime will be reported as one entry with a 1.5 overtime multiplier. For example, if you worked 5 hours of overtime with an hourly rate of $10, your pay stub would report these monies as:

Old Method
5 hours @ $10 (1.0) = $50
5 Hours @ $5 (.5) = $25
Total Overtime Pay (1.5) = $75

New Method
5 hours @ $15 (1.5) = $75
This is a change in reporting only, the overtime multiplier and the calculation remain the same.

How to Stay Sure-Footed This Winter

Winter weather brings icy driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots. Employee safety is a top concern. Here's how to avoid a fall:

1.  Wear YakTrax if you're out and about in the community (if you need a pair, Easterseals will provide them; ask your supervisor!)

2.  Keep a sand bottle from Easterseals ready to use in your vehicle.

Review these tips on how to avoid slips, trips, and falls during the winter season.
